Nails continued...

Sorry I know I was supposed to write about this last week, however, I have been very, very busy lately... So here I am writing, way past my bedtime...

Ok, so nails, How on earth do I get my nail polish to stay you ask??

First things first, no cutting corners now.
You have to file your nails, you can just use the smoothing side of the file, you don't have to file the heck out of them, just enough to smooth them out. Then use either nail polish remover or alcohol and remove all dust particles from the nail. Then proceed with your nail polish, and go in light coats, do not try and do thick coats, this actually takes longer. The thicker the coat of nail polish the longer it takes to dry. If you apply thin coats they actually dry in a couple of minutes. Another tip, paint your nails before you take a shower, that way if you get any nail polish on the skin, it will come off when you shower.

This goes for both finger nails and toe nails!

Enjoy! Let me know if this works for you!

Amazing Nails..........

So never in my life have I ever been able to grow out beautiful nails.... that is until the last few months, we will blame it on being pregnant. However, I have not been pregnant for almost 5 months now and I am still growing some amazing nails. While I was pregnant I read this little tip about how to file your nails.. Who would have thought that filing your nails a specific way would have a lasting effect on your nails...

Well, let me just tell you, it has made a huge difference. This is the super secret tip - when filing your nails....... only go ONE direction. That is it. However, it is difficult to actually do, we automatically start to file going back and fourth. This splinters the nail, making it weak and brittle, which my nails have always been until now. Even at the nail salon when you go and get a manicure, they go to town filing both directions.

So, I hope this post is timely for those that need to know how to file their own nails!

Also, ever wonder how to make your nail polish last longer????
I will tell you next week!

Welcome back to me..........

Ok, so I am truly sorry for neglecting all who depend on my blog for their feeling fabulous information... Life has been one twist and turn after another the past year. As most of you know, my husband and I had a little girl in December. She has just completely taken over my world. I would not have it any other way.

I recently had a friend ask me to do a post about hair styles and what looks good on your face. Well, this is an extremely tricky one. Because not only does it matter about your face shape your hair texture and thickness also play a vital role. My best suggestion is to find a wonderful hair stylist and let them lead the way. Generally, I have found if I go to a real salon they are not going to be chop happy on my hair. I get to go in and relax, get a glass of wine and we go through my hair together. When trying a new place out I like to look around at the people working there, do they have good looking hair, do they have long hair, are there cute hair styles in the place. Because if you are looking around and you see bad hair everyone, RUN AWAY!!! FAST! Don't be afraid to go, I need to cancel my appointment and go somewhere else.

One of my most recent finds after being with the same hair dresser for three years was the Aveda salon. I have never felt more at home. My hair dresser for three years recommend a colorist to me that turned my hair green. I am blond so this is very easy to do if you do not know what you are doing. So, I was distraught. After multiple times of trying to fix my gorgeous hair from being pregnant - yes, your hair is in its most gorgeous state EVER! My hair was brittle, GREEN and just busted. My old hair stylist gave me a new hair cut..... however leaving in GREEN!! Why on earth would you cut off my hair and leave green still!!! So alas, the relationship had to come to an end. We were not on the same page.

A good friend of mind recommend the Aveda salon, so I went to the salon, with my green hair thinking mercy, they are going to have to chop off all my hair in order to get rid of this green, everything else has been tried, or so I have been told, by the people who turned my hair green. I get in and we are going through my hair, and the texture of it. The woman recommended that instead of cutting, lets try and a deep conditioning treatment that removes green. I, hesitant was convinced. Two glasses of wine later my hair is more healthy than before and no longer green! Thank you Aveda!

My life has been changed. I will forever be grateful of the Aveda salon and spa. My point is, even if you have been going to the same person for quite some time, if you are not getting the results that you have been wanting, it is probably time to split hairs. Also, don't be afraid to mix it up and try something your stylist recommends, you hair will always grow back if you don't care for it. Chances are if you are going to a trained professional they are not going to recommend something they don't think will work with your hair texture, face shape and thickness. And, most professionals will let you come back in sessions if you want to try something but you don't want to go to short they will let you play with the hair for a couple of days and then if you want to go shorter they will not charge you for another cut.
